About Mike

Hi I’m Mike, founder of the Job Search Methods website and experience. During my 35+ year career, I have seen firsthand everything we knew about success and getting ahead in the world change so dramatically, from when I first started my career, to now…mainly due to the rapid development of technology, social media and of course COVID. In those 35+ years, I have learned a lot, I have failed of course, but ultimately I have found strategies and techniques that have worked well for me, and I know will work for you.

I want to give you a bit of my background and story.

My Background

Having been on both sides of the table, being both the interviewer and interviewee, and at levels from entry level to upper executive levels – I have a unique blend of experience that will help you be prepared, regardless of your situation…plus I too am over 50 (over 60) and have personally lived through the many challenges that those over 50 will face.

In today’s world, we communicate differently, both in terms of the words and phrases we use, and in the methods and channels of how we communicate.

We are now working well into our 60’s, 70’s and even well beyond that for some…which is creating many unique challenges (and great opportunities) for folks in our age bracket.

Why I Want To Help People

Over 2000 hours a year is a lot of time to spend at a job that is not right for you…and my experience tells me that most candidates are just not very well-prepared for job interviews, and do not write resumes well, nor have a clear strategy for their career.

When I lost my job earlier in life, I was able to bounce back, and age NEVER came into the conversation.

It was always about looking for the next step in my career, but after losing a job (one that I was with for many years) in my fifties I quickly learned that I was looked at as someone nearing the end of my career…and not someone who could still add value to the organization.

Just like sports teams have learned to blend youth and veteran experience in order to develop strong successful teams…business has not yet caught on to that concept of building strong organizations that feed off everyone’s strengths what they bring to the table…so I had to learn the hard way!

Being able to write an effective resume and how to build your brand and value proposition that leads to a job interview, are just a few of the most important skills a person needs in order to manage a fulfilling and satisfying career, especially for those of us over 50.

My Goal is Help You Achieve Your Goals

Ultimately, my goal is to help YOU find that perfect job and help you satisfactorily progress your career, fulfilling all your aspirations, through the things that I have learned, and through techniques, strategies, and ideas that I am consistently researching in the world of career development that I know will help you.

I not only teach you how to construct a great resume but also how to excel during a job interview and show you everything you will need to know in today’s competitive advanced job market.  I cover things such as marketing yourself and creating a unique personal brand (which will drive YOUR value proposition via social media, your resume, and how you conduct yourself).  In addition, I show you how to find hidden job markets, and how to network – the right way.  All in, to help YOU find that perfect next opportunity.

In the articles published on this site, I will draw on recent studies, research, and what I have learned during my long career and many years of experience, advising and guiding you step-by-step, through ALL the processes showing you what works, and what does not work.

This site’s success will hinge on me helping you solve problems, and the challenges those of us over 50 face when competing for jobs against folks much younger than us and to help get you noticed and get doors to open.

I invite you all to share your stories of challenges and successes. We all can learn from those who have faced the same challenges and new ones. The idea here is to help and be helped – so please add your comment or insight!

Plus, if you ever need a helping hand or have any questions, please feel free to leave them below and I will be more than happy to help you.

All the best,

Mike – Founder
